Worker + Learner Engagement Spectrum

Moving towards Empowerment

In the first round of the Fund for Workforce Equity, our evaluators introduced the concept of a spectrum of worker + learner engagement to help grantees and funders understand how grantees were working to engage workers and learners in their funded projects.

In this round of the Fund for Workforce Equity, we are looking for ways in which applicants propose to move their projects and/or organizations along the spectrum toward empowering workers and learners most impacted by racial, ethnic, and gender disparities. We understand that organizations are all starting in different places with respect to worker + learner engagement and will take this into account in reviewing and evaluating applications.

Inform

To provide workers and learners with balanced and objective information to assist them in understanding the problem, alternatives, opportunities, and solutions.

Consult

To obtain worker and learner feedback on analysis, alternatives, and decisions.

Involve

To work directly with the workers and learners throughout the process to ensure that their concerns and aspirations are consistently understood and considered.

Collaborate

To partner with workers and learners in each aspect of the decision, including the development of alternatives and the identification of the preferred solution.

Empower

To place final decision making in the hands of workers and learners.
